2021 Winner of Study a Bachelor's in the USA Scholarship Announced

Cristal Wu, a Belizean national is the winner of the 2021 Study a Bachelor's in the U.S. Scholarship awarded by educations.com.

Cristal has been awarded $5000 towards her tuition fees for her Bachelor's in Civil Engineering at the University of South Florida. Committed to sustainable development, Cristal visits Belize's dams in her spare time and believes that great civil engineering could help the country develop with less negative impact to the environment.

Due to a lack of higher education options in engineering in Belize, Cristal knew she would need to study abroad to make her dreams of building up Belize's infrastructure in environmentally sustainable ways.

She was attracted to the U.S., one of the top five places to study abroad in the world, because it hosts undergraduate degree programs with opportunities to do research, its multicultural environment, and available internships to help her build experience.

Cristal's past and her future plans align with the mission of the scholarship, which seeks to recognize Bachelor's students in the U.S. with a courageous and adventurous spirit who are interested in other cultures, are high academic achievers and demonstrate their passion through extracurricular involvement.

“We are in love with Cristal's story,” says Abby Guthrie, Communications Manager of educations.com. "Her desire to reach her potential through study in the U.S., represent the hopes and dreams of so many students who find their U.S. programs on educations.com have. We're excited to follow her journey and we're proud of being a small part of making her dreams come true.
