STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN (May 31st, 2022) - Ismael Guereca Valdivia is the winner of the Go Global MBA scholarship 2022 by educations.com.

Ismael has been awarded $7,000 towards his tuition for a double degree in Master’s in Chemical Engineering and MBA, through the Leaders for Global Operations (LGO) program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

After working at local and international companies in various roles, including as a team leader, Ismael decided to combine his passion for biotechnology with business to get closer to his aim to establish a biotechnology start-up in Mexico.

Ismael grew up in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, and he discovered his interest in biotechnology when he was in fourth grade when presenting his favorite animal, which was ‘bacteria’. For him, what makes biotechnology fascinating is that it seeks to use living organisms or systems to generate products or processes. Ismael focused on the area of bioprocess engineering during his studies and also volunteered as an academic tutor and mentor.

Studying in the United States gives him the opportunity to further focus on his passion as well as provide him with a world-class education. His exceptional academic records and career path lead him to the MIT LGO program, and he is counting down the days to start his journey

“We are excited to welcome Ismael into MIT’s Leader’s For Global Operations (LGO) program. At LGO, he will earn an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Business and a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the School of Engineering. Chemical Engineering is known as the most rigorous area of study at MIT, and it is quite an achievement to be admitted to this prestigious department.

In addition to top engineering grades, demonstrated work success, and leadership skills, Ismael is well-rounded. He volunteers as an Exatec Mentor and has worked and studied in four countries (and is fluent in four languages)!

At LGO, Ismael will be pursuing the Biomedical and Biotechnology track within Chemical Engineering, learning more about renewable chemical research in order to start a biotechnology company when he returns home to Mexico. Ismael will add a diverse perspective to the LGO Class of 2024, and embodies MIT Sloan’s mission of “developing principled, innovative leaders who improve the world”.

Ismael’s story and path align with the mission of the Go Global MBA scholarship, which seeks to empower MBA students to become globally-minded leaders.

About this scholarship

Applications for the Study a Bachelor's in the USA Scholarship 2022 is still open until August 31st, 2022.

We have closed our Go Global MBA Scholarship and Study a Master's in Europe Scholarship for studies starting in Fall 2022. We are now accepting submissions for the new round of students who are going to study MBA or Master that begins in Fall 2023.
